Hi, I’m Julie. Welcome to The Healthy Home Cook, a blog where I get to share my love for nutritious foods, and advice for living a strong fulfilling life. Here you will find easy, home-cooked recipes, fitness/ lifestyle tips, as well as fun activities for kids.
My goal is to provide people with delicious, satisfying recipes that will help them embrace a healthier lifestyle.

Let me start with saying I did not come from a food or photography background. I went to Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA and majored in Music Business/Management.
Some might consider that to be a major difference from starting a food blog. But, I have always felt that cooking and music are very similar. Whether I’m in the kitchen or singing on stage, I get to express my own creativity and imagination.
After living in NYC for about 3 years, where I worked in the music industry, I decided to get certified as a personal trainer through The Cooper Institute in Dallas, TX. Fitness had always been a passion of mine, mainly due to my competitive nature, but now I was able to help touch other people’s lives and motivate them to become more fit and healthy.

Becoming a personal trainer was a great career change for me, since my husband's career in the Navy has us picking up and moving often. As many military wives would say, "it's a crazy life, but we wouldn't have it any other way."
Thanks to the military we have been given many great opportunities. No matter where we move, we always try to stay as healthy and active as possible. We love to participate in triathlons, duathlons, and running races. But often opt for walking and playing with our border collie, Bailey 🙂

Now with 4 kids, finding easy, healthy recipes is just as important. I am excited to share my recipes to hopefully inspire readers to try out new ways of cooking. The best part is that anyone can enjoy them from vegans to carnivores alike!
