Smoky Tofu Jerky is easy to make, full of flavor and perfect for snacking. Try this recipe today!
In this step-by-step process, I'll show you the BEST method for turning tofu into deliciously baked jerky. It's an easy, high-protein recipe that is chewy but not tough.
To be honest, I'm not sure exactly how long this jerky keeps because it never lasts more than a couple days. Use your best judgment. It's also a great addition to your salads and wraps!
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED?
- 1 14oz container of tofu (firm or extra firm)
- 2 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon liquid smoke
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
HOW DO I MAKE SMOKY TOFU JERKY?
Drain the tofu, slice into thin strips and pat dry. Place the tofu on a papertowel lined plate and set in your refrigerator for a couple hours to dry out more. **You want to get as much liquid out of the tofu as possible before marinating it.
Whisk together the remaining ingredients and pour over the tofu. Let sit for 30 minutes.
Arrange the slices on a wire rack over a baking sheet.
Bake at 200 degrees F. for 3 hours, or until slices become dry. Flip tofu slices about half way through baking process.
Remove from oven. Let the tofu sit and cool. As it cools, the tofu will become more "jerky like."
