This homemade guacamole is simple, fresh and super delicious!
During my summers through high school and college I worked at a local Mexican restaurant. They had some of the best food and would often have guests waiting up to an hour to get a table.
Needless to say I had the opportunity to taste test a few things here and there :). It was all in the name of "quality control"...or at least that's what I told myself.
One particular menu item that I learned to make was guacamole. Even though over the years I have changed the recipe slightly to make it my own, it is still super popular in my house.
To this day, my family and friends still ask me to make it when I go home to Texas. I can't blame them, it's one of my favorite dips to eat as well.
Guacamole is a much healthier option when it comes to serving dips at a party. It's easy to make and is packed with a ton of fresh ingredients, including tomatoes, onion, jalapenos and cilantro.
WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED?
- 4 Avocados
- ½ Onion
- 1 Tomato
- Approximately ¼ to ⅓ cup of Jalapenos, depending on how spicy you like it.
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
- 1 teaspoon Pepper
- 1 tablespoon Lime Juice
- ⅓ cup Fresh Cilantro
HOW DO I MAKE EASY HOMEMADE GUACAMOLE?
To make my "world famous guacamole", start by mashing up four avocados in a large mixing bowl. I chop ½ onion, 1 tomato, and approximately ¼ to ⅓ cup of jalapenos, depending on how spicy you like it. (You can use fresh or pickled jalapenos with this recipe, I use whatever I have laying around).
Place all the chopped ingredients into the large bowl, and mix well with the mashed avocado. Top it off with 1 teaspoon of garlic salt, 1 teaspoon of pepper, 1 tablespoon of lime juice, and ⅓ cup of chopped fresh cilantro.
Mix all the ingredients well. If you are preparing this early, put the seed of one of your avocados in the guacamole and place in your refrigerator. This will help the guacamole from turning brown before your party.

Not only is homemade guacamole much less expensive than store bought, it tastes better too! DIG IN!
