If spicy is wrong, then I don't want to be right! Especially when it comes to making this Cajun Blackened Salmon.
Last month we purchased a huge bag of frozen salmon from Costco with the intention of cooking it often. Well, as you guessed right, a month has gone by and I completely forgot about it. Most likely because it was hidden beneath the packages of random frozen waffles and popsicles for my son.
Since I was pleasantly surprised by finding the bag, I decided to make this delicious recipe for Cajun Blackened Salmon. Easy to make, seasoned perfectly, and topped with an light citrus cream, this meal is one for the books.
HOW DO I MAKE CAJUN BLACKENED SALMON?
Start by combining the following ingredients in a small bowl:
- ½ teaspoon garlic salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- ½ teaspoon sea salt
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- ¼ teaspoon cayenne
- 1 teaspoon pepper
Next, rub half of the dry ingredients onto one side of your salmon fillets. You should have enough dry rub for 3-4 salmon fillets.
In a large cast iron (or nonstick) skillet, begin to heat approximately 2 tablespoon olive oil. When the oil is hot, place the salmon fillets (seasoned side down) in the skillet.
While the fish is cooking, add the remaining dry rub to the top side. Turn your fish after 2-3 minutes and cook for another 2-3 minutes approximately.
When your fish is finished cooking remove from stove and set aside for now.
To create the optional light lime cream sauce, mix together the following ingredients:
- ⅓ cup plain Greek Yogurt
- Juice of 1 lime
- 1 tablespoon honey
Easy as that you have a delicious new way to serve salmon. Don't go another day without trying this spicy, Cajun recipe...your taste buds will thank you!
