If you're in the mood for something flavorful, tender and super easy to make, this Slow-Cooker Sweet & Smoky BBQ Chicken is for you. It's become our family’s newest dinnertime obsession.

There is nothing better than coming home to a prepared dinner. Whether you have a busy schedule due to work, school, or other kid activities, this Slow-Cooker Sweet & Smoky Barbecue Chicken is perfect.
The chicken is cooked to perfection and can be served many different ways. As a sandwich, stuffed in a baked sweet potato or simply as is with your favorite sides. No smoker required!
The flavors are amazing and it definitely makes for a super easy weeknight dinner!

WHAT INGREDIENTS DO I NEED?
- 4 chicken breasts (approximately 3.5 - 4 lbs total)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- 4 tablespoon Sweet & Smoky Dry Rub
- 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
- optional: 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, if you want more spice.

HOW DO I MAKE SLOW-COOKER SWEET & SMOKY BBQ CHICKEN?
Season both sides of the chicken breasts with the Sweet & Smoky Dry Rub (or preferred bbq rub or chicken rub), then place them in your slow cooker.
In a small bowl, whisk together the barbecue sauce, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and liquid smoke. Pour the sauce over the chicken, close lid, and cook on Low for 5 hours or High for 3. If you are unsure if the chicken is cooked through, use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature is 165 degrees F.
Once the chicken is cooked through, shred the meat. You can use two forks or a hand mixer to break the meat apart.

As I stated before, there are many ways to serve this chicken. Build a delicious sandwich, stuff it in a baked potato, or serve it with your favorite potato salad, crunchy okra and/or coleslaw. However you choose, it is going to be a new favorite! Store in an airtight container in your refrigerator for easy weekly meal prep.
**While I do love chicken breast meat, feel free to try this recipe with chicken thighs (bone-in or boneless). You could even swap for pork shoulder if you prefer.**
