I love it when I am able to simplify my mornings, especially when it comes to preparing breakfast. Breakfast always seems to be on the back burner when I am trying to squeeze in a workout, feed the baby, run errands, and clean the house. As a personal trainer, I know how important it is to not skip meals…but as a new mom, everything I learned seems to fly out of the window. (I’m sure there are new parents out there who know what I’m talking about!) I especially love this smoothie because it is packed with vitamins and nutrients to keep me satisfied longer. Which is nice since I am never too sure when the next chance I will have to eat. Another plus, is that it’s the perfect, portable breakfast! I can make it and take it anywhere if I’m in a time crunch.
My Blueberry Spinach Protein Smoothie recipe makes enough for two people. If you don’t have someone to share with, put half of it in the fridge and save it for the next day. It is still good! I like to add a little ice and blend it up again in the morning, so that it is nice and cold.
The recipe includes 1 banana, 1 cup of fresh baby spinach, 1 cup of fresh blueberries, 1/2 cup of almond milk, 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder and 1 cup of ice. Place all the ingredients into a blender and mix. Easy as that!
