When kids are stuck at home (and inside) they can get bored fast. Being prepared with simple indoor activities is a great way to ensure your children stay happy and calm, even when life gets out of hand.

These simple activities to keep your kids busy are a great way to take away the stress of sharing a confined space while everyone is stuck at home.

These simple activities to keep your kids busy are a great way to take away the stress of sharing a confined space while everyone is stuck at home.

    BOARD GAMES:

Pull out a board game. Board games are always a great way to keep kids occupied with some educational value (depending on the game).

When your kids start to get board with a game try to switch things up. Offer them pieces of a games and have them create their own! This is a wonderful way to get their creative juices flowing.

If your kids are big Bluey fans, like mine, they will love this Bluey Monopoly Jr. Game.

    FORTS:

Pull out some extra flat sheets or this Fort Builder Kit and use them to make fun forts around the house.

Playing in forts is a favorite childhood pastime and a great use for unused flat sheets. Keep some large clothes pins handy for hooking sheets to furniture to make it easier to build.

    BAKING:

Keep baking supplies on hand to make a fun treat with your kids. This is a great way to keep them busy, work on math, and even warm the house up a bit on a cold snowy day.

Baking mixes, especially this DIY Cake Pop Baking Kit for Kids, are fairly inexpensive and can be a great option for hiding in the back of the pantry for a day when you just need a little something to make the day a bit more bearable.

    CLASSIC IMAGINATION GAMES:

Play classic indoor games like, "the floor is lava", if you don't mind the kids hopping on cushions and climbing on the couch. This game of imagination will help wear your kids out while keeping them busy when they are stuck inside.

You can also purchase this Floor is Lava game as an alternative.

    {LIMITED} MOVIE TIME:

Pull out some snacks and enjoy a movie. If you limit screen time, this can be a great way to treat the kids to something simple and fun. Make some snacks for a movie theater experience in the living room.

Get into the spirit and move the cushions to the floor with lots of blankets and pillows for the perfect cozy movie spot. This Movie Night Snack Board is a family favorite.

    READING:

Stash some new books that your kids would like for a rainy day. A good book can entertain a reader for hours. Use pillows and blankets to make cozy reading nooks around the house and set the kids loose for an afternoon of reading and some quiet for you.

    FUN WITH ART:

Have a stock of art supplies no one uses? Most of us have some type of art basics hanging around the house. Set up a space at the table where your child can create without leaving a mess all over the house and enjoy a moment to get other things done while your child is busy and content.

I recently purchased this Art Cart for all of my kids supplies. It is PERFECT! I roll it in and out of our hall closet when the kids want to work on a project.
