This Gluten Free Focaccia is an easy bread recipe that's loaded with outstanding flavor!
It's hard to beat a homemade baked focaccia loaf. Crispy on the outside, soft inside, served warm with an extra drizzle of olive oil, or a side of my Spicy Olive Oil Bread Dip...mmmm....I'm drooling just thinking about it.
In all seriousness, this simple recipe is perfect for beginner bakers, seasoned bread bakers, gluten free eaters or not. There is plenty of delicious herby flavor and a light, pillowy texture that is hard to resist.
This Gluten Free Focaccia dough comes together fairly easy. But because it is gluten free, there are a few extra ingredients to make it super soft and delicious.
What ingredients do I need?
- 3 cups almond flour
- 2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
- 4 egg whites
- 1 cup almond milk (unsweetened; plain)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 1 tablespoon rosemary (dry or fresh)
- 1 tablespoon dry oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
How do I make Gluten Free Focaccia?
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, rosemary, oregano, and garlic powder. Set aside for now.
Step 3: In another bowl, beat egg whites until fluffy.
Step 4: In a large bowl, combine almond flour, baking powder, xanthan gum and salt. Add milk to the flour, then fold in the egg whites gently.
Step 5: Spread the dough into a parchment paper lined baking sheet. Then, dip your fingers into the oil mixture and press down into the dough, creating dimples. Drizzle the remaining oil over the dough.
Step 6: Bake for approximately 18-20 minutes or until the bread is golden brown. Remove and let cool before slicing.
