Meal prep doesn’t have to be just for dinner, these oatmeal cups are readily available to pop into the microwave whenever you need a quick breakfast! They’re easy to customize and the ultimate grab and go breakfast.
I recently made a batch of my Easy Instant Pot Oatmeal and was inspired to make these freezer friendly oatmeal cups. Not only are they perfect for meal prep, but also cuts down on my food waste.
Between my family and I, we usually don't finish all of my Instant Pot Oatmeal. Now, I can save what we don't finish and freeze it for another morning. Plus you can add whatever toppings you want to each cup!
FAVORITE OATMEAL TOPPINGS:
- Blueberries
- Banana
- Pecans
- Cinnamon
- Chocolate Chips
- Savory ingredients: bacon, shredded cheese, pesto
Make in advance, freeze in muffin tins then store in a freezer safe bag. It’s easy to make, warms up great, and is perfect for portioning.
HOW DO YOU CREATE FREEZER OATMEAL CUPS?
STEP 1: Cook up a batch of my IP Oatmeal and let it cool for about 20 minutes.
STEP 2: Spoon the cooked and cooled oatmeal into muffin tins to freeze. Top with any additional ingredients, if desired.
STEP 3: Once the oatmeal is frozen, move the cubes to a zip-lock bag.
When you are ready to heat up, add a splash of water or milk to the oatmeal before microwaving.
These meal prep oatmeal cups are the perfect recipe for a make-ahead breakfast.
